BMW Aux-iPod connectors

Ok, so basically the back of the plug connects into the spare bottom right port in the 'headunit's back - so you don't loose any functionality. The aux is simple, but the above link is for iPod etc to allow for charging (extra wires). I get one is a ground wire, but that red wire? where does that go? Where do two of the ends go? I'm assuming it will come with one end connected, but if not..??

No idea. I paid about $80 and got the one that goes in the console: a USB plug and a 1/8" stereo plug on one end, the iPod connector on the other. Works perfectly. Not sure if all E60s came with the interface though.
Mine in an 04 and doesn't have a plug or usb anywhere. There is a strange little sliding cover & a whole in the center console. Anyone know what that is for?

front what the seller, (still vague) the black is the earth (obvously) and the red is supposed to connect to the 'ignition'? lol what? can anyone make any sense of that?
