Sorry to resurrect this old thread but just this evening, I got a message in the HUD saying something like "SOS/Emergency Assistance Not Active" (I wish I could remember the exact wording.)
Does anyone know it that type of message indicates some fault or is it possible that BMW sent down some command to disable the feature? I checked the services menu under communications and I swear there's some new stuff in there that I've never seen before (I'm still running a fairly old CIP so the new items didn't show up from a recent upgrade...) |

I made an appointment to fix the SOS button calling 911 situation for next Tuesday. My SA told me that the SOS button should not be calling 911, so they will open a PUMA case. BTW, once it dials 911, I can not hang up the 911 call from my car (not even turning off the car). I ended up waiting in the CHP 911 queue for 5 minutes. I had to explain the 911 operator the situation, so she can terminate the call for me. I'm hoping it's a faulty TCU, so I can activate bluetooth with the new TCU.
So far, I've been getting this types of treatment from the dealer. 1) door squeaks - The dealer blames on my Windows tint. They did apply carboflo, but they do not have the new door seals. 2) cup holders - no new cup holders for me, because the old ones are not broken. They are just badly designed. |
Here is a New TSB on a TCU issue that may be causing the Assist failures/strange messages. The computer I am on does not allow me to upgrade it and it does not have PDF capability. I cannot get you a clean copy of this nor can I get the attachments. This does not format properly. The E60/E63 (5/6 series) VINs end with the B###### numbers below.
SI B84 04 06 Phone, Navigation Systems February 2006 Technical Service PERFORM THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED IN THIS SERVICE INFORMATION ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES THE NEXT TIME THEY ARE IN THE SHOP FOR MAINTENANCE OR REPAIRS.
