They better add it, Rob, if they want to keep us. So far, it's just an unconscious cell phone for an emergency crash in a car interrior that has you surrounded with stuff to keep you conscious.

This is EXACTLY what I want out of BMW assist. (with Traffic). I would renew right now.
I wish someone would pay attention and give this to us in the USA.

I just received a mailer from BMW Assist announcing optional services of Traffic, Directions and Weather. For $4.95 a shot you can get this information. In a pinch this might be worth it but otherwise it seems expensive. Do they charge extra for directions and putting the link on their server for downloading to the cars GPS in Germany?

No. No additional costs in Germany.
I just called them again today to ask for a phone number, and they did a search and really tried to find it. In the end they couldn't help me but really tried.

Thanks for the reply, Iceman. I wonder why there is such a difference between here and Germany. It probably has to do with how BMWUSA markets Assist versus BMW Germany. Wish we had your service!

I can't believe that they are wanting to charge us in the USA $4.95 for a weather report over BMW Assist. I guess they don't realize we all have the Weather Band.

Speak for yourself JDN, not all of us have Weather Band. I think those with NAV got weather band as near as I can tell. But I still won't pay $4.95 for a weather report!

What we have here in the US is called 'Concierge Service'. Call your BMW assist and ask them to give you the number. When I got my BMW, my sales rep called the number, and told me about the service. They will do all the stuff Iceman is talking about- make reservations, find a plumber, walk your dog etc. The service is free for the first year.
It does cost $4.95 if you call BMW assist and want directions - that is really an emergency thing if you ask me.
