The BMWUSA website shows the alarm as standard as well (in case Edmunds got it wrong...)

I think this is still related to location.? We need to know where jayman098ma is from...

Thanks jayman, I thought that might have been what the "ma" was at the end of your name...

The page I linked to above clearly states as a standard feature on a US 525i (under the "safety and security" heading):

"Remote keyless entry security alarm system with selective unlocking and double-lock feature (programmed at BMW center), remote trunk opening, interior motion detector, and panic feature"

Your dealer is probably confused...

Hi,

it depends on the country the car is sold, i.e. in Germany it's optional.

That's right. In Germany it's an option.

Unhappy

I ordered while stationed in Germany, unless I missed something the alarm was standard. What package did I order to get the alarm?

You ordered your car while stationed here, so you got a US spec E60, where it is standard.

I don't know that it is so difficult to steal. I am quite worried about the screwdriver trick in the door lock that uses the 'feature' of opening the windows at the key by turning the switch by 'any' means (i.e. without the actual key simply using enough force to break the lock mechanism)

I'd feel safer if that feature could be disabled. I don't really need it.

Iceman, I am getting my car from Germany and it doesnt have alarm listed in the options. Does that mean that the car has just the central locking and not even the most basic of alarms? I cant believe a car costing so much wouldnt have alarm as standard. I need alarm where I live for my insurance to be valid :'(

If your car is German spec and doesn't have alarm listed as an option it doesn't have it.
Alarm is an option on Germna spec E60's.
