Oh the joy! Silence at last, at least for a while. New door seals are a vast improvement. Also got updated to 18.0 to fix the transmission slam, seems to have done the trick. Have not hit darkness yet to see if the orange LED are working. Only quirk is the stereo now stays on for a couple of seconds after the key is turned off, but not a big deal. May be just my imagination, but the brakes seem to have a better touch. By that I mean making a smooth stop was always a bit of an art form. Now a complete stop seems much smoother, no harsh stop. Can this be done with the software? I know the newer model years were getting some assist on the braking to give smoother stops, but not my 2004. Could the software be used in tandem w/ the anti-lock brakes to smooth out that stop? Anyway, very pleased w/ the door seals and the transmission performance, though we'll see after my first wash how the door seals do!

Yes, it was Peake. I assume by upgrade you mean software. For that, I actually had the SIB number that someone had posted on this forum about the software upgrade taking care of the harsh downshift. Dropped it off Wednesday morning and was done by 3 PM this afternoon, for the door seals, the software upgrade and the installation of the wood trim on the center console around my cubby hole (non-Nav car).

Yes it would, just don't know if is possible. The brakes sure seem improved, but maybe it's just coming back to my E60 from the 325 loaner I had!

Anyone in Europe knows if there's a European bulletin on these squeaking seals as well? Mine sqeaks like crazy - worse than my E46 did - and I'm going to have to get them changed, but I don't wanna pay for it...

JDN, I stood there with the tech and listened and he claimed that the sound was the Aux fan or some fan that was getting up to speed and then winding down once I killed the engine. Guess I just never noticed it before, but seemed awfully loud to me. Guess we'll have to wait and see, didn't have time to stick around and argue. And boy does that wood trim look soooo much better than the plastic it replaced!

I understand from our local dealership that the eyebrow will return with the 18.1.

Is your rough idling and flouctuating rpm finally cured?

No change to the idling. It is not so much rough, such that you sit in the car and can feel it, but the RPM needle clealry fluctuates up and down. You would think with the computer control on these engines that it would peg 750 RPM and stay there (w/ AC on). Instead mine moves up and down, not a lot, but maybe between 730 and 770 rpm, something like that. It's not like it goes back and forth between 600 and 800, but it is clearly there...
