Blinking engine light on dash, What's up?
#1
Hi guys. I had my car parked for the winter. I had a battery tender on it so it fired up just fine. After starting up the engine light on the dash started blinking for about 20 seconds then stayed on. The engine was running a little rough during this time and rpms were jumping by a couple hundred up and down. I turned the car off and restarted it. This time the light didn't come on and after warming up I drove the car around town without any problems. I have driven the car several times since the incident and there has been no issues. The Idrive gave no warnings during or after the incident. I looked it up in the manual and it says something about misfires or emissions (I'm at work now, I don't remember exactly).
The car is still under warranty. Should I take it to the dealer to have it checked out even though the idrive is not giving any warnings and it hasn't happened since?
Thanks for any info.
Bob

I'd reckon it's the reason it was stood for quite a while which would account for a little bit a rough idling and the engine light flickering, seeing that there is no sign of the same thing happening as you've driven it about without any error's or problem's i'd say it's fine.

flashing engine light is bad. It is a misfire that can ruin catalyic converters. Do not drive it until you fix it, or it "fixes" itself, which i highly doubt will happen.

Flashing engine lights are usually more serious issues...but if it's gone and hasn't come back I wouldn't worry too much about it..
