I need help guys, I'm new to the forum and I'm bout to place my order for a '05 545i w/ sport package. I can't decide which exterior I should go for. I definitely will get the grey leather interior, but I don't know if I should go with Jet Black or Black Sapphire?

For me - must be CARBON black. Lovely dark blue when the light is right. Otherwise it's black.

Might as well go for the metalic paint, sapphire black.

This has been asked on here a few times. Search the forum to read more on this.

But in summary.... BLACK SAPPHIRE all the way. You will absolutely love it. I have it and wouldn't have it any other way. My last BMW was Jet Black and the Black Sapphire is WAY better looking, IMO.

Black Sapphire!! - jet black looks too flat in my opinion, and the Sapphire is absolutely beautiful in the sun - has lots of depth to it.

For me, there is only one true black, and that's jet black. Everything else is 'black with something else in it'. I had a metallic black car, and it's beautiful, but it is not quite as 'black' as a jet black car. It doesn't have the 'liquid' look that the jet black has when it's clean either. I had the opportunity to see the two cars right next to each other at the dealer, and the metallic is just a bit lighter than the jet black. Bottom line is you need to look at both and decide for yourself.

You're right - it's all personal preference. My wife's car is jet black, mine's sapphire, and we both like it that way. She says mine isn't really black, and I don't like how much harder hers is to keep looking tip-top. Plus, I really do like the way it looks blue-gray in the sun - it's like a new color in different light.

John, stop washing her car. Then she will appreciate your sapphire black.
