I was told by a friend that most of the BMW are made in USA and then put onto a big ship. The ship will travel a big U-turn from USA back to USA port such as New Jersey ...
He told me that his trusted MB (Benz) dealer told him this story. Is this true ? He was very sure that X3 and X5 are doing this kind of trick ????
He then said that all MB were made in German !!!! I doubted that especially it was from the mouth of MB dealer.
Any way to confirm that our E60 or most of the BMW are made in German and then ship to USA ?

From what I know, BMW X3, X5, Z4, and future V5 are made in USA. Mercedes ML and future R class are made in USA. Don't know about Audi, but all Porsche are made in Europe.
Lexus RX and some Acura are made in Canada.
Anyone has more info.?

It's hard to believe that someone believes the country of manufacture of a car can be or would be hidden.
In the US, all cars indicate the location of final assembly as well as the country of manufacture of major components on the window sticker.
X5s and Z4s are manufactured by BMW in the US. X3 manufacture is outsourced to a firm in Austria. Some 3ers for local markets are manufactured by BMW in South Africa. All other 3ers as well as all 1ers, 5ers, 6ers and 7ers are manufactured by BMW in Germany.
BTW, M-B manufactures its ML class in Alabama.

X5 and Z4 are made in the USA. Trucked in USA and shipped to the rest of the world from the USA. It is clearly written on the sticker and is no secret. The E60 is made in Germany and also in Egypt. There may be other factories in the east but I am not sure which models they make.

When I visited the Dingolfing factory during my Euro Delivery they said that all the 5, 6, and 7 series have always been built at Dingolfing, and they still are. If there are E60's produced elsewhere then they are probably assembled there.......I can't remember what BMW calls this.....somthing like "knockdown kit" or...?????
