just my opinion but its annoying when people call them anything else...just as when people call porsches, a porsh.

Thank you.

I find that most of the people who call them beamers/bimmers are non-owners.

Porsch-uh because in Germany a trailing e is usually pronounced.

Porsche = Porsch Uh
BMW = Bee Emm Vey (as in Veyron)
5er = funfer
Mercedes = Merr zay d s (or Dime luh )
Autobahn = Ow toe barn (not Or toe barn)
VW = Fow Vey
Audi Avant = Ow dee a vant (as in vantage, not as in avantgarde the french word)
911 = noyn elfer
M5 = M funf
M3 = M dry

I don't think most germans wouldn't know what a bimmer, beemer or beamer is. If you were in an office environment and ask someone do they have a beamer, they'd bring you a projector to plug into your laptop for making a presentation.

Isn't just saying "5" enough? That's pretty much how I refer to it

My Ride: 2004 BMW 530i - no mods. Pretty basic really. I mean it has tires, windows, and a sweet look, what more could a man want? Honestly, I'd like to improve the sound system mildly, and possibly find a worthy engine mod that would increase my BHP by 100 without giving an arm and a leg for. I don't think it's out there, so I'll stay stock and love driving my 530i.

I call my BMW the BMW, or the five (5). I also call my wife's BMW the Black BMW, or the three (3). However due to lack of creativity I choose bimmer as a screen name... Soooo what is it then? Personally I don't think it matters... It can be any of the aforementioned names for all I care. However depending who you're talking to it might matter. Most people from my experience don't know what a 5 or bimmer is, so I have to say my BMW, but when I say BMW they immediately have some comment about me owning an expensive car - blah blah blah... Honestly, what ever works to get your point across.
