That's my worst nightmare; someone messing with my car. You said patients, so you must be a doctor of some kind. Were you giving someone a shot and trying to calm them down by saying "just a little prick, just a little prick" and maybe they took it the wrong way?

Well, hopefully the repairs go well, and it's a good lesson for all of us to not leave anything in the car when in public places. It's just unfortunate someone has to be the example.

I had the same happen to me some years ago; someone broke-in and stole a CD case (not in sight) with copied CDs inside -- about EUR 20 of items stolen and hundreds of Euros to get the window etc sorted. On a plus note, at least there was nothing in there of (personal) value that was taken. Sounds like you learnt your lesson though!

With regards to what you wrote above, it may not effect your current premium, but when shopping around in the future for a better quote the companies will no doubt be looking to see how many claims you made on your previous policy. I would therefore stick with you current plan and not claim.

I hope all gets sorted without further complication...
my insurance responded very fast...had a claim number an appointment set up immediately (called the ins @ 12:10, estimate was getting done at 12:30)...drove there (10 minutes from my work, Steigler Auto Body on reseda: FYI for the locals). The guy cleaned the glass out, ordered the parts and gave me the cost, he told me to cancel the claim as well...agreed regarding not claiming it...I will not be...

That sounds like great service all round. Last thing you need after something like that happening to your pride and joy is a nightmare getting it sorted.

With regads to the alarm, are you going to get BMW to check it? Maybe it had de-activated the sound by the time you returned? (Mine was broken into during the night, but was not sounding when I returned, so unforetunately cannot tell you how long it lasts for normally.)

mine is sounding...I tested it via key fob....just curious to know why it didn't go off when they broke the glass....or maybe it did go off or does the alarm shut off on it's own after awhile?

My GUESS is yes, it will shut off the sound after a while, because its only there to deter people and after a few minutes either its worked or not! Not sure if there are any kind of industry standard times? Maybe you know someone who could google it?

Most aftermarket alarms have indicators that will tell you if the alarm has been activated while you were away. When you go to turn off your alarm, it'll have a different chirp and the LED inside the car also flashes differently. I'm wondering if the factory alarm has a similar feature.
