I just sold my two cars. I listed them on AUTOTRADER, CARS.COM and CRAIGSLIST.

The M3 sold via CARS.COM
and the Z3 sold via CRAIGSLIST.

BUT I had to do some of my own marketing as well. It is not easy to sell these cars, especially with the colors I had. So I made my own websites, with links to them on all online ads. That HELPED a lot. Here are my links:

http://m3.compsx.com
http://z3.compsx.com
I know nothing about craigslist - any help appreciated. Also, how did you create your own website? I love those pages as they really sell the car (nice M3!).

Dang I'm having problems selling mine on Autotrader... not one call since its been listed.

KBB and Nada guides says private sale for excellent is $23K I listed it for $22K and no calls at all... whats up with that? Oh wells...

Good luck with yours anyways...

I might try Craigslist now since you guys are suggesting...
One of the partners at my firm had a BMW convert. and the key, he thought, was proper pricing. He listed it at cars.com for $30,000 and got no calls but when he listed at $29,995 he was flooded. He realized that people were looking for cars and stating less than $30K in search criteria.

So I still need advice in terms of the bumper and fixing up; do I need to invest in getting it professionally done and taking away all the marks or just sell as is and hope for the best?

Ok, go to www.craigslist.org. There on the right side, is a list of all the available cities where you can post. Select, click on your city. Then in the center, under the for sale sign, find cars+trucks. Clck on that. You will see the listing of all the cars there.

Now on the right top corner, there is a link [POST]. Click that and follow the steps. Make your ad, add images, then submit it. You will recieve an email to confirm your ad. Click the link on that email, and confirm it, and it will get posted in the next 10 to 15 minutes.

The best thing is it is free, and they do get a lot of traffic.

About creating your own website, you have to know a little bit of programming, or get a friend who can help you out. Thanks, I did love my M3, and the guy who bought it, has called me already a few times about how happy he is.

I checked out Craigslist, looks good.

In terms of a website I may either just create photos within a blog or use snapfish type solution. Thanks again.

wmbii,

You said: "She has mid to minor parking garage dents on her rear bumper - maybe 8 spots. Noticeable and touched up as much as possible."

There are bumper repair specialists out here in CA that do great work for reasonable prices. Look on the internet for one in your area. They use flexible fillers and paint the whole bumper to match the car. I had mine fixed for $350. Much cheaper than replacement. Maybe these guys: http://www.aerocolours.com/locations/northeast.html

Not exactly. As I was washing the car to get it ready to show two of the callers the next morning, a neighbor walked by and said "hey, that car is looking sweet!" I told him why I was detailing it and he made me an offer. Sold!
I sold my 2000 Porsche 996C4 to my next door neighbor a few years ago. They called me to ask some questions about Porsches and after answering their questions I told them I was thinking of selling mine. We agreed on a price and that was it. Never advertised it at all. Had an equally easy time of selling its predecesor, a 1995 993C4, when I purchased the 996C4, but that is another story.
