I have not personally purchased from TireRack, but friends have and report good things.

I have bought from Costco and it was pretty smooth.
When you purchase from tirerack, you still need to have them delivered, take them to the shop or (have them delivered directly to the shop) mounted, balanced, and whatever shop you take them to, I'm sure does not offer lifetime rotation and balance!

Research at TireRack, purchase at Costco. Costco will give you total price on the web that includes installation, balance, road hazard insurance, etc. In my experience, the Costco price in the end usually beats all others. However, they only carry Michelin (the best choice IMO) and Goodrich. http://tires.costco.com/TSSapp/TireLanding.xhtml BTW, my bro has an X5 and likes the very cheap Kumho's he has on it.

Costco is very good when shopping around for tires. I have gotten my tires replaced for my 2005 Mercedes ML350, 2002 Mercedes S430 and my 2006 BMW 525i. They have premium tires.

For an X5 I would recommend the Cross Terrains. I have had these on both my Jeep and my Mercedes. They are probably the best all season tires.

Costco prices average 200 dollars cheaper than any retailer and they also nitro inflate your tires

I would only contribute that you DO NOT have to put the run flats back on the bmw per the lease agreement.

Costco would not install non-RFT onto a car that has RFT and no spare. That has been their response here at my local Costco in No. CA

Could anyone tell me if they have had non-RFT installed at Costco w/o a spare tire. My 07 530 SP does not come with a spare.

I don't know why they would care or even look to see that there was a spare. I had them replace my runflats with PS2's (non-runflats) and the topic never came up and I am pretty certain they never went into the trunk to see if I had one. Just order what you want on online and then go in and have them put them on. I think once the sale is made, they will just follow through.

I am a huge fan of Discount. I think their prices are good plus for only $20 you get road hazard insurance. Since I have low profile tires, this is a must. I have already sent back 1 tire after some damage after a pot hole.
+3 The last time I bought tires DT matched the TireRack price.
