Usually the police report and a chargesheet does the trick with waiving the deductible and making sure your premium does not rise. 5-6 years back, my then, new car, was hit by a reckless driver in a cop chase. The police report and persistence sorted everything out. I spoke with the ADA at the hearing and her office made a phonecall to my insurance too. In my case, I am sure the driver had no insurance and didn't pay for sh*t, but it still worked out well.
What he ^ said. We pay insurance premiums for a reason!

Glad to hear they got caught and arrested though.

That sucks about the insurance situation though... Is there no way to have the vandals cough up the money for it? (or their parents, if they're under 18?)

I wouldn't assume that reporting this to your insurance company will screw up your rates. Comprehensive claims are treated differently than collisions, and in many states an insurer is expressly prohibited from changing your rates or dropping you for a claim such as this . . . vandalism.

As for the perps . . . talk to the police and prosecutors and make it known that you're out the amount of damages. Restitution absolutely should be ordered once these dipsticks are convicted.

If you're paying from day 1, then you should be able to claim from day 1, not day 90! If that was the case, they should start your policy FROM day 90...

BTW, do you know the vandals/or why why they did it? I just don't understand why they'd do it!
