Hello all,

Last night I opened the battery compartment in the boot of the car to find a small label with 3 differnt colours

Had something written on it along these lines

Green - Sufficiently charged
Yellow - Needs charging
Black - Battery dead

Also their is a circular window below the label which at first I thought was a button, but then I realised it must be linked to the label. I turned on the engine to see if any colour would light up on the battery 'window' its self but their was nothing, am I missing or doing something wrong?

Kind Regards

There is a clear plastic eye on the battery top ... you may need a small mirror and flashlight to view it. The eye will display those colors as a basic "battery health indicator".

I don't believe it's a light - you can't see it in the dark. but if you look in bright light, or with a flashlight you should see the proper color reflection.

Many thanks for the responces.

Looked at it with a flashlight and it seemed green I guess I do not need a new battery, though mechanic insists I get one.

How did your "mechanic" test the battery? A basic volt/ohm meter is not adequate to test modern batteries. Are there other electrical - related issues he's trying to figure out by replacing one part at a time!

Currently Navigation decides to turn on when it wants to and sometimes does not work, iDrive is very slow, thought it may be linked to the battery.

Problem solving by sequential parts replacement is a costly and time consuming process. You should find a shop that can do a proper diagnosis before investing in replacing parts that may be serviceable.
