Battery Installation Pricing
#21
the dealer next to me wanted $125 to check it $450 for the Battery $150 to install 3 day to do it and for me to pay for a rental car, did it in PA for $230 and free loaner, so just call around untill you find a dealer that will do it the cheapest,

O M G. $125 for diagnostics ... I get free complete diagnostics on my MDX whenever I take the car in for anything... And $150 for the labor... Talk about making up for a slow economy by gouging customers.

lol criminals. btw after i put a heavy subwoofer system in my car it pretty much sucked any life remaining out of my old battery.(4years old) so i went to autozone got a equivilent size battery installed in there lot and never did anything else. that was 1.5 years ago. since then the car cranks up fine even in 15 degree weatther. the only idrive issue was pass side seatbelt, airbag. which everyone gets because the seat mat sensor is a pos.and ive been riding with that on the idrive for over a year. personally i think the whole registering thing is bullshit and just bmws way of taking more money for there customer. i refuse to go to the dealer for anything regaurding labor. ill sell my car if i have a major issue rather then get suckered by them. this is my first bmw an most likely my last. i love my ride but im not impressed.

Just read a post in another forum that had a good idea. He "jumped" his car to another battery under the hood while replacing the battery in the trunk. The result - no lost electrical pre-sets on any of his equipment.

I had the battery registered at a local Indy shop for $50.
A dealer should be able to register a non-OEM battery as long as you are willing to pay for it.

My 2006 530i is coded, and is my weekend car. Went to Sears, purchased their die hard battery. The battery came with a 7 year warranty, was not expensive and best of all, did NOT loose it's coding or any other data/stored presets/DME chipping. Was in and out in an hour.

PUKKA - Thanks for the reply.
One more question for the forum. I have a white battery in by 2007 530i. I was told the black one is AGM and white is normal. Can I put black (AGM) battery in my car?
