I had the battery disconnected. I wonder if the "time to oil service" will reset when you do this. The date and time had to be set over again and I guess that is also an input to the oil service indicator??

initially it will show as reset but it will download your service intervals from bmw and they will be back in line within a couple hours usually

I disconnected my battery for over an hour. No issue. Just set the correct time after battery reconnect. My date was not lost. Navigation history and address book remained intact. Service information / intervals intact. Audio settings reset, but station memory was intact.
I only had the Active Steering Malfunction message, which was fixed by driving in a complete circle (steering wheel turned fully) in one direction and then the other, then driving straight for a little bit and turning the car off for a minute.
