I agree there must be some sort of problem. Although I'd still recommend a battery tender. Its possible that some issue has left the battery a little weak. A handful of short drives would not then get it back to 100%. My '08 550i had an issue at < 1 year old with the battery dying. They replaced the alternator but the battery still seemed weak after sitting. A few nights on the battery tender cured it and I've had no problems since.

That's pretty interesting. What do you think happened? Were you only doing short trips before you put the battery tender on?

All of you saying this is normal - IT'S NOT!

Your car should be able to sit for many many weeks and still have enough charge to start.

Get it checked out.

i thought it's not normal as well, and i brought to BMW of Manhattan(big mistake) they said i will be charged $480 if it's battery problem, because i only have 3700 miles, if i dont want to replace the battery after they find out, then they charge me $150 just to check, i just see 29 reviews regarding BMW of Manhattan, all negative

so i will try another dealer next week, i will let you guys know what come out of, thanks

BMW of manhattan is well known to be a waste of time. Always avoid them at all cost.
Stay away from BMW of Bayside, Queens too.

I'd recommend BMW of Tenefly or JMK in Springfield, NJ, although a little bit out of your way, you will get the best service.

just realize you have the same model as i do, 2008 535XI, did you go to the dealer and have them check it out?

anyone have 2008 535XI here?
Yes, i had them check it out and they said i don't drive it long enough for the battery to get fully charged. Seems like a lame excuse to me but i guess the real answer is that this is problem but they don't know how to fix it.

By the way, my GTI has been sitting in my garage for around two months without being started, with the battery connected. I just started it up- the starter sounded really strong. Next time you're at the bmw dealer for a dead battery, tell them a 13 year-old POS can sit months with no problems.
