It's very common. The car always is draining power. Buy a Deltran Battery Tender (BMW has one under their logo) and use it when you'll be gone more than 3-4 days. I travel a lot, so it's a must.

wow i need to get one of those. im lucky i leave my car parked for sometimes a week at a time with no start in the winter. Either going to get one of these or just remember to give it a quick start. If its snowing i try to keep my car safe in the garage!

I used to get that a lot when I came home from school for holidays and my dad hadn't driven it. All sorts of error messages, but after some driving, it would go away and never show up again... until I left and came back again.

See this is where BMW fails with only one battery. Whereas Mercs have two starter and electrical items. I really think BMW need to rethink how they route the car redundant needs.

thanks, maybe i should drive couple miles see if the error messages go away or now
first time seeing the messages for AWD and DSC, and make me think that driving will cause serious issue on AWD
thank you guys, you make me feel better

Hi to all from a wet and cold South Africa! I have a 2005 530d Steptronic with 125 000 km on the clock and still use the original battery. I have recently had a heart operation which prohibited me to be in a car and left my car standing fot six weeks. Upon first turn of the key it started. I did not have the alarm on as it is parked in a locked garage. I'll be buggered if I know what brand the battery is! Regards!

So how do you get around in the winter if you are not using the 530i? Snowmobile? Snowcat?

WOW, SIX weeks? i am sure most cars can not do that, most cars die within a month i think it is normal, but for BMW? only 10 days?

That battery drain sounds like too much to me.

My 530d (spec in my sig) was left standing for 4 weeks over the Chritsmas period (Dec 13, 2008 to Jan 12, 2009 to be precise), one week of which was C-O-L-D by local standards (if I recall right, overnight temps dropped to -8C). On my return from vacation on the morning of Jan 12th, the car unlocked with one click of the key button and started with one push of the start/stop button (and minimal cranking).

Oh, and I don't have a garage, so it's parked out on my very wind-swept water-side street (we live in the old harbour)
