Took my 2006 530xi in the other day for the battery negative cable recall. iDrive has been acting strangely since. I have seen multiple iDrive reboots while driving and seen the iDrive take minutes to boot up. Could be something loose I suspect. I don't drive the car very often, but I've had multiple occurrences. Does anyone have the exact SIB detailing what work is to be done for the recall? I'd like to use that to retrace what the mechanic might have done.

Its hard to image anything they did that could be causing your problem but if something wasn't done properly I would suspect more than the iDrive would be a problem. The attachments are the Canadian description but are probably the same as the U.S. version.

Yea, that is the recall letter. I have that. I'm looking for the SIB that describes the exact parts and repair procedure to understand what they did. What was unbolted, etc.

I have seen some strange issues happening on many different fronts since people visited the dealer for battery recall.

As far as I know there is a plastic cap which is replaced on the - cable near the battery. Had mine done and haven't had any problems, I drive 80miles on average day, everyday.

The job wasn't even near the battery. It's the bolt area near the middle of the trunk close to the back seats. It's the junction where the positive battery cable meets the main positive bus cable that runs all the way to the front of the car.

Update...I took out my Navigation DVD and my iDrive is behaving better. The Nav DVD I had in there was a copy of the original disc. I haven't put the original disc back in to make sure it wasn't the drive and was just the DVD. Strange thing is it wasn't unhappy before I went to the dealer.
