Just found out windshield fluid leaks out of the weeping hole on the windshield washer pump. I used sealant and sealed that hole tightly. This should prevent the fluid from leaking. But any guru can comment what is the function of that weeping hole and downside without it?
I understand why a weeping whole is needed for water pump, but for a windshield washer pump?
Thanks!

The weephole usually serves as a warning to when the impeller gasket is failing. It can't be fixed by itself - you have to replace the pump.
