Hello all,
I originally tried to post this as a reply to an earlier thread (started by Lomag) which was similar. For some reason, it wouldn't post (maybe because the original was too old???), so here I am.
I am trying to embark on the world of MP3 music CDs for my car, and after reading about this in previous threads, I have a few questions (I don't know very much about this, so I really appreciate any advice):
1) My car is a 2007 530xi (Not sure of the build date, but it sometime in March '07). Earlier threads have mentioned that, in order to play MP3 cds in a Navigation equipped car, you may need to take your car back to the dealership for some software upgrade. Does this apply to me?
2) I'm assuming that all of the songs on my ipod/Itunes library are .aac files. Can I burn an MP3 cd with these, or do I need to find some way to convert them all to .mp3?
3) Does anyone have any experience with burning MP3 cds on BOTH MAC and PC computers? Just wondering if one seems to work better.
Thanks,
-rtl2

What you need to do is do a google search on .aac to mp3 converter. You will be able to find a free one which will meet your needs. This will take your .aac files and convert them to MP3's. Once this is done you will need to then use a cd burning program like Nero or Roxio or basically any program which which comes w/ the a CD/DVD burner. Once you do this you will want to follow the basic wizards which comes with most burner programs.
basic steps will be drag/drop mp3's to "cd" and the push burn. Thats it about it.

I just got upgraded to the newest software about 2 weeks ago (25.04 I think??) and I'm still unable to play mp3's on my '05 525i.
