04' 530i was getting 24.5 per i drive...but my math was always around 19-20 mpg.(using miles driven /fill gallons)... then one day i was playing around with the settings and noticed the car was on mpg(uk) and not mpg(us).. i moved it to use and it magically said 19mpg average... right on the money...
i drive like an old lady ...dont know my avg mph..

Interesting note, though. When I do the math and use the number of miles between fill-ups and number of gallons, my mileage is actually better than the computer (0.8-1.3 mpg better). Another thread talked about the computer over estimating the milage--not my experience.
yeah, you know i always get different mpg when i do fill-ups as well (mine is higher per idrive), but i thought about the logic and think i would approve idrive over fill-up math. the reason being is unless you are using the same exact pump every time you fill up, each nozzle probably has a different level at which they will stop pumping fuel, meaning your gas tank is probably not filled to the same point every time you fill up. that obviously affects your mpg estimates. that's my educated guess anyway.

thanks for the input! i really want to see some average MPH in the teens. right now i'm at 16.8 MPH and 15.1 MPG. it just feels remarkably low for a 530i, though it doesn't seem far off from what everyone else is getting if you adjust the MPH on other results.

2004 525i: last I looked I know my MPG was 26.4 and I think my average MPH was around 25-30mph.
Not a lot of highway, more around town between 30-45mph but only 2 or 3 stoplights in town so not much stopping.

i think i'm doing better, though nothing shocking to feel good about. my average right now is 19.0 MPH and 16.2 MPG and i am about halfway through the tank. thanks for the posting guys, i do question the validity of some of these, though. i don't think any BMW gets 34 MPG... report back next time around and let's see how results continue to compare. would like to see some 550i's...

" i don't think any BMW gets 34 MPG"

That's on a 530 diesel which is very possible

2006 530 xi Do not know mph? Could check. My average idrive is 20.8 with triponic shifting to 3-4 k rpms on city and highway. This car is very easy to run fast. If I feather the pedal (meaning lay off it) then I am sure I can reach higher mpg marks. This is with 40-42 psi 19' 960 potenza tires. No weight except driver. My air filter and oil(just changed) are clean. If I change out to a better filter like KN; how else can I get better mpg? Some how there are those on this forum that get better mpg. Happy Happy motoring gentlemen. These cars sure are a delight. Dan
