I was watching the 5 series review on that site, it showed a person pressing the BOOT button on the key and the boot opened automatically.

This does not happen on mine, was this an option?

If you have locked your car, you need to press the boot opening button for a while before the boot pops up.

If the car is unlocked, just lightly press the boot button will do.

If not, you've got a problem :'( .

Just don't hold the button to long or people will all of a sudden be watching you cuss yourself.

Three seconds will set off the alarm as will two seconds. Punch the boot button and say "1000 and one out loud" or silently, releasing on "one." That works for me.

No.
He is from the UK. I don't think they have the panic function.
I think the panic function is US spec only.

Does it call for a three second hold? What happens after three seconds? Four seconds?

I find the boot only opens when I release the button. Holding it down does nothing other than set off the panic alarm after some time. I quick depress also does nothing. Its press wait release and then it pops open.
