Hiiiiii to all

I faced the same thing in my 545i >> exactly I feel the downshifts when the speed is below 40 km/h .. It is annoying me sometime when friends are with me. They think that I am applying brake but I am not. I am thinking to take my car to BMW dealer these days to have thier answer on donwshift behavior

any way it is good for handling purposes

Thumbs down

I am having the same shifting problem, but mine is very noticeable. The downshifts first hit when I let off the gas and the car begins to coast and slow to 40 MPH. It downshifts again at 30 MPH while continuing to coast. It is really disconcerting as the engine drag is fairly strong. Add to that an additional UPSHIFT as it clears 20 MPH which makes stopping an exciting (NOT) experience with a feeling of lurching forward. It's pretty scary. Shifting pattern is almost opposite of what it should be. I had a 530i SP and it never did this. The car is in the shop again for this problem. If they don't fix it this time I'm going for Lemon status. I only have 725 miles on it. It was also in the shop for 3 months as part of the global recall for bad ECMs. One more thing... it shakes at idle (when in gear) which is cool for drag-racer but not for a luxury car.

This is a normal thing for the Steptronic transmission which I believe is the best on the planat. Once you get used to it you will love it.

Love it! The downshifts are the best part - just hold your foot on the gas when coasting downhill to maintain speed. It's a new way of driving for me too.

Thanks for the feedback. I didn't realize that BMW had changed it's transmission in this way. It's nice to know it's normal, but I think my situation is abnormal in that the effect on my car is significant. It is in the shop right now, so we'll see. It really drives poorly and I don't like it. Anyone else's 545ia shake while in gear and a stop? Please let me know.

Thanks
