Sure.. the mist-sensor-thing is nothing new I believe? And I have experienced it not working too well, especially in winter AND with the auto function set on, I often experience fog/mist on the driver's side of the windshield.. sometimes slightly annoying.

I went through last winter with zero issues. I was always quite comfy and never had any issues with condensation on the glass (then again, neither of my E39s had condensation problems...)

[quote name='heezy545i' date='Aug 30 2005, 04:39 AM']I think the A/C works fine, but I don't like how you have to adjust both temperature knobs.

Whhat? That's just a very nice thing to have. I mean maybe the driver needs 19 degrees and maybe the passenger wants 21. The fans in the driver are will blow colder air while not disturbing the passenger. (2 zone climate control)

Yes, dual climate zones is a good thing, but in other cars, there's often a button or system which allows one to control the zones individually or make it into a single zone.

My airs system works fine and cools the car very quickly and manages the cooling very well. You know, my only issue with the climate control system is the knobs. I think the asthetics on the dash are rather batmanish and not up to snuff with the luxury market today.

For those of you complaining of the A/C coming on when you start your car even though you've turned it off when you last left the vehicle...

Try turning off the A/C first by hitting the 'A/C' button. Then hit the 'Off' button in the center knob. Exit your vehicle.

When I do this, I can return to my vehicle, start the motor, and the fan is still off.

By the way, off topic I know, but...

Does anyone else think there should be a digital readout for the cabin temperature?

I think if we knew what the cabin temperature was it would make the numbers on the dials more meaningful. As far as I'm concerned, turning the dial counter-clockwise makes it 'cooler' and turning it clockwise makes it 'warmer'. The numbers don't help me.

Take this for example:
You get into your car and determine it is only slightly cold. You want to set the temperature to make it a little warmer but not 'hot'. Well, what "degree" do you set it too if you don't know what the current temperature is?

Anyone else think the numbers are redundant?

When I drove Japanese cars and always had a bimmer up my kazoo, I adjust and look at the climate control and wonder why it was always hot even at 70 F. I finally figured that the adrenaline was running and that a bimmer passed me despite me flooring the pedal. Not all true, but some.

I think BMW engineer decided to put everything on the iDrive and in the end, said, "Hey, there's nothing on the dash except the LCD screen. Let's put some 1970's A/C dial and that will make it look cool!" No doubt, BMW engineer are more geeky than interior designers . . . yes . . . it takes one to know one . . . that's why I love the interior look despite bad reviews.

Thanks for this! Works for me. Should have been made clear in the manual. Hit the A/C button to turn it off and then the "off" button.
Imagine some people being told they need a software update to fix the A/C from always being on!
Oh the humanity!
