Both of our okd Mercs (99 E320 & 2000 C280 have excellent auto AC. It isn't German engineering. It sounds like operator malfunction!

HVAC has never been a German strong suit, be it in a Bimmer, MB or a P-Car.?

When it comes to air conditioning, they could really take a lesson from the Japanese ...

Hi
My dealer upgraded I-drive to 18.1.
But the air conditioner is alwaly on after sleep-mode even though I turn off manually. This is so annoying.
Do you bimmers have the same problems?
Thanks for your reply in advance.

the E60's system adjusts humidity levels
All air conditioners act as dehumidifiers. That is nothing special.... unless the E60 has a built-in humidifier to add water to the air.

My 2005 545i, which I got August 1st, also has the ac coming on every time I start the car even when I turn it off when I shut down the car.
It's annoying, but not something I would be willing to take to BMW for a software upgrade for 2-3 days.

In Houston, TX, temperature various from 76-100 F in one day. One morning, with iDrive setting on high, I had my temp. knob set to about 76-78 F for both sides. Outside temperature was 79. After about 2-3 minutes, my windows was condensiing - I was freezing my balls off. The auto climate button is ON, and the AC button was ON, but the blower kept on blowing. A software glitch?

Why should BMW include the "high, medium, or low" anyway? Doesn't everyone want to get to the set temp. ASAP.

Exactly!
I have the same thing, but really it doesn't tire me too much to push a button to make it off. Plus sometimes it just stays off but rarely. And i get the window anti trap error but rarely...
I'm not bothered by anything on this car!
I JUST LUV IT AS IT IS!

Bimmer32-True but I have mine on medium because the fan noise is too loud on high.
I live in Florida so I feel your pain.
You would think that when you spend this much money for a car, something like getting the ac to start when the driver wants it to start would be tested for before passing the vehicle on to the customer.
I paid several hundred bucks for a dealer preparation fee. Checking the car out for stuff like this should have been part of it.
Now I find out when I am driving alone, the front passenger headrest keeps noisily vibrating.
Shouldn't happen for 60k.

It does. That's my point. The system adds moisture when heating -- I've never been more comfortable in a car during the winter...

Mine changes the blower speed according to temperature.
High - low just chages the sensitivity. Its one of the few things that works perfectly on my car...
