Default Auto Trans

Is low fluid enough to cause the car not to move? got red trans fault, car feels like it clicks into gear but goes nowhere and smells like the clutch is burning a bit....6HP26Z

I went ahead and ordered a new filter/pan since I seen a small amount of ATF on the ground

But would that be enough to stop the car from driving at all?

Of course low fluid can stop your trans working
E60s are known for transmission problems and even a low fluid level can stop the transmission, cause major damage or put it into safety mode.

I woudn't be attempting to run your car again till you have checked the fluid level!

Have a look at KyleB's post https://5series.net/forums/diy-do-yo...thread-137584/

it will tell you everything you need to know and how to check that your levels are okay

did you do a fault code check to see what is happening?

Make sure you update your post to let others know how you went

More info on your car would be helpful... Year, model, miles, recent services, etc.
