So. The other day I noticed that my headlight switch, while in the auto position, started blinking. The solid green light was now blinking. I had read somewhere that It could be a bad sensor or something. I tried to find where I read it and cant find it. Can anyone chime in on my it keeps blinking.

Ok so I figured it out. Thanks for replies by the way . Well the blinking light is telling me that my active xenon headlights have a malfunction. I have also noticed that my passenger side headlight is pointing toward the right (on to the sidewalk) and not straight ahead. It seems that I made a turn the headlight turned and just never returned to its position. How can I fix this? Can I reset the system?

Ok so, I was looking at my bently manual and it could be one of 3 things. The Light Module PN-6135919264, the Stepper Motor (Vertical Light)PN-67168352206, or the Adaptive Headlight, Electronics box ALC, PN-63127189312. Now I just need to figure out how to test each of them before I just blindly start replacing parts and hoping it fixes the problem.
Again any help is appreciated. Apparently no one knows anything about headlights.

I have the same problem. trying to research this problem online, however get multiple answers. some say it is AHL unit some say it is ALC unit, and some say it is Headlight itself.
bimmerchop69 did you figure it out?

I have a similar situation that's been going on for awhile now. I've seeked for help from this forum and Xoutpost as my X5 adaptive passenger headlights are always pointed to one side. I had the whole headlight unit replaced under warranty and it did the trick for about 3 days but after my passenger side is still pointing far to the right.
So I really can't give much input except changing the whole headlight unit and whatever components in it did not help.

Might I add, I've never had the green light flash but sometimes when my headlights turn on only one side of the xenons go on. Usually happens when the weathers rainy or moist.

well, changing the whole light is not a question, I'm out of the warranty! however i do feel that my AHL unit might be bad. I own the car for 4 month now, and only today i found out that i have the Adaptive headlights. Previous owner, prick, didn't mention that. the light was flashing all this time, and only today my left light went way to the left....

ok so here's the verdict. after 3 days at the stealership and $600 Later. They replaced the stepper motor controller and 2 bulbs for the LED's. a stepper motor controller $171 + Programming $380 and some other crap. Any way. I got the car back today and guess what, the light was still blinking. It turned out that the actual mechanism that rotates the light left and right is bad. The fix is replacing the headlight. So i'm fcuked with the headlight. I wish I paid the extra 2 grand for a CPO Warrany on this POS.
If you guys are thinking of replacing the headlights. it has to be programmed at the stealer.
