Is it located in the same place as the rain sensor or somwehere else?
I tried shining a bright light on the rain sensor position but the lights did not go out.

I seem to be having trouble with the lights staying on in bright early morning sunshine.

mine did the same til dealer wound back the light control module sensitivity...fixed it for most of the time but still occasionally I get lights on when I think they should be off

I think the sensor is where the rain sensor is

By the way, echo everything about landrover....I had a discovery that went through 3 gearboxes, 2 looms, etc etc etc...what crap!, as If I hadn't learned, got mrs diesel a freelander when they first came out and it was even worse!!!......service is pish and quality worse.....she's got an X3 now and it hasn't missed a beat in 1 year!!!

The following thread covers the locations of the different light-related sensors:

The sensor is in Munich, blissfully ignorant of your local conditions.

I couldn't resist.

Thanks Rudy.
There may be another sensor as well because mine do eventually switch off in broad daylight but today when I shone a super bright 3W LED flashlight at the sensor, the lights just stayed on.

Anyway hopefully one of the numerous software upgrades will sort it out and hopefully not screw anything else up.

The sensor is in the rear view mirrors housing, where the rain sensor is.
Your flashlight probably didn't had the same temp/frequency/wavelength as sunlight...
