Just got home from holiday and found a small puddle of oil beneath the beemer. As it hadn't long had the oil changed I assumed it could be a bit of spillage from the topping up. However, more oil left on the mother in law's drive and a look under the car reveals quite a bit of oil on the middle silencer and around that area. I have checked all round the engine bay and can't find any oil there, so i can only assume it's from the gearbox - most likely the output shaft??

The oil is clear and sweet smeeling (smells like ATF to me).

Anybody know of this as as a problem? Car is a 2003 530d with auto and has 57k miles on.

Cheers

Alan
