Hi - Be kind to the newbie please.

I've recently picked up an e60 2004 530i - Great car - Except for the stereo :-(.

SO.. I've done a heap of research and thought replacing the Sub amp on the left hand rear wheel well would be a great first step - Removed the trim and no amp!... What gives? I do have the subs under the front seats, and they are working. Is this some sort of unusual standard setup for the Australian market or something?

Thanks for any advice.

Hi! You must have what I had in my old 2005 BMW 530i Mpsort.

It had a standard system in but no amp. You probably also do not have door tweeters even though the grills will be there.

These can be added and do make a difference.

They are ways to add a sub on your system, do a search on here how to do it.

G'day Nev,

Thanks for the reply. - What a let down... buy a nice Euro vehicle - and it comes with _that_! Unbeleivable.
Guess I'll have to start surveying my options.

I have that system

Two 4" fulltone in the rear deck and front doors. And two 160mm subs under the seats.
I have fitted a Blaupunkt pnp 475 amp that helped a bit. About to the replace the speakers with some quality ones.

BHi Mporange,

Thanks for the reply - What did you connect the amp inputs to?

Thanks

Oh - Also, are you sure they are 160mm subs, or is that a guestimate? The reason I ask is that all other sources are saying 203mm (8") - Thanks

You connect the speaker output to the amp and then the speakers to the amp. There is a bmw wiring kit that doesnt need to cut any wires.
But you have to pull some cables from the radio to the trunk.

See this http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=136594

Not an e60 but an e90 but the principle is the same.

Yes i am very sure of the 160mm subs in the low end system. I have not pulled my subs out. But it have been confirmed on many forums.
But you should be able to install an 8" sub. The small subs have a spacer.
