Audio system upgrade in 05 545i w/ HiFi Audio
#21
Here's the positive battery cable connected and run behind the trunk trim.
I installed the Audio Control LC6i LOC behind the rear trunk trim. Pic is of rough install to test prior to final routing of wires & cables and cleanup.
Amp was mounted underneath rear deck with 3m Dual Lock Fastener tape and sheet metal screws. It's S O L I D!!!

Thanks. The LC6i is a 6 channel line out converter with level matching & channel summing capabilities. It also has a light to show when the signal starts to clip which helps with setting the signal level output to the RCAs feeding the amp as well as signal sensing functionality and remote turn on input and output. It's a pretty slick unit.

Hi JP,
Did you ever finish this install with the EQ SWS 8s or add a signal processor. Just wondering if you saw the most impact in just adding the Audio Control and Amp?

Well I changed plans and went with Rainbow 8" mid subs instead but those are still sitting in the box. I really am happy with how it sounds with the Audio Control LC6 and Alpine amp. It really made the OEM system come alive. I'll get to finishing the install eventually. LOL

Haha, ok that just about says it all... and after having a dialogue with several on this and Bimmerfest forum, I'm going to go a very similar route.
I was a bit concerned that Technic suggests the MS-8 to clean up the sound from the Head Unit but from what I gather, you hearing good results from just the Audio Control LOC and Amp.
Herman (H-F) suggested that as well, at least he suggested just adding amps and hearing how much better the OEM speakers would be. Then maybe adding or upgrading the sub/s.
Since your Rainbows are still in the box, you might just be satisfied and don't realize it yet
Great thread for a simple, and comparably inexpensive upgrade.
For others I'm looking at the following expenses;
Technic harness $120 (as just quoted this month)
Audio Control LC7i $150 (adds Accubass control vs LC6i ($99))
Amp $150-250 (undecided, Alpine @ $250 vs. Kenwood $150, MB Quart $150)
Installation?
DIY $0
