Auburn Dakota Leather - Rare Interior Color?

I will note that terra leather (close to auburn) seems to be rather common on the E90 (I'd say 30% of the cars on the lot had terra interior when I visited last week).

So it seems like the Auburn Dakota interior is as rare as I thought...

Strange that BMW would put it into a 525i, of all cars...

My wheels - 2005 530XI - Olivine Exterior with Auburn Interior... I think it looks stunning... and I get a ton of compliments on the combination...

I have the auburn interior and quite like it. I get a lot of nice compliments on it too.

I found my car on the bmw used website. It was in a different city - about 5 hours drive away. When I called the sales guy at MY dealership to let him know I was going to look at it, he insisted that I come into the dealership to look at a new car they had with the interior. He wanted to make sure I knew what I was getting before doing a 5 hour drive to look at the used one. He had to search around the dealership a lot of find one - so they certainly didn't have many. In the end my bride, myself and the sales guy all agreed we like it. But he was worried at first.

Seems rare in Canada.

My Ride: 545i - ordered in January delivered April 21st! Black Sapphire Metallic, Black Dakota Leather, Anthracite Maple.

When I was looking I couldn't find anything... My dealer said they only special order it.

It is an option for all cars in the US from MY 2004 on, the option is the leather interior specifically dakota. The color choice of Auburn is not a custom color or anything like that. In the US standard on the 525 is leatherette in beige or black, if the dealer/original owner order the leather/Premium package the color choices are black, beige,grey and auburn. Grey is in the US currently a more rare color choice.
