Yeah i do get that once in a while, that rough slight rough idle at lights, not sure what the cause may be but maybe common for 545?

I've done the tune up changed the spark plugs already, and i have about 76k on my car, cleaned the MAF. Lets get more opinion on the other owners.

i had a severe vibration for a few months on my 530, after a few visits to the dealer they were able to find the issue. cam sensors and engine mounts were replaced fixed about 80% of the rumble. they said i need to replace the transmission or exhaust dampener? (2 techs told 2 different part names, never heard of either) also but it wasnt under warranty and would be expensive. the vibration is barely noticable at this point so when i get around to it ill bring it back in to the shop to get fixed.

so far it seems to me that it's a common and (may be) normal for 545i. n62 engine is supposed to be rough - that's what they say at dealership too. that makes me feel better.

i only wonder how come few people here say it's very smooth?.. could it be that we run different gas in different regions?

cam sensors and no check engine light errors popping up not sure about that but engine mounts possible if the cars mileage is high.

Who told you the 545i had a smooth engine? I don't think anyone would say the
545i is so smooth you can't tell it's on...
here is the link: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=73179&st=15

the guy (saying about 545i on second page) says: "With a V-8 these cars are brutes, yet idle so smoothly that you don't know they are running unless you look at the tach."

Interesting...

Well when my car is all nice and warmed up I would say that the idle is VERY smooth also, but not as smooth as, let's say a Lincoln town car, or a Lexus.
After a cold start my idle is a little choppy, but as soon as you ride a few minutes, the idle is quite smooth.

no problem here either, when i hit 60k miles my car was at its worst shape regarding gas consumption i noticed a 60 mile reduction on a full tank but idle felt smooth... knock on wood

PS after the 60k Service and MAF Sensor cleaned Car runs Excellent

take the car to get serviced and post any findings

I heard from members to clean the MAF; however, when I took my car to the dealer they performed the service outline on this link: http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=75922

In my case, it took care of the problem and there is actually an SIB code from BMW for rough idle, check it out.
