BMW Group vehicle sales in April were down 5.0% when compared to April, 2004. However, YTD sales for the first 4 months of 2005 were up 3.4% based primarily on sales on the 6 Series, X3 and X5 trucks and the MINI brand.
Sales of the X Series increased 26.3% while car sales were down 19.5% when compared to last April. My guess is that car sales would have been down even more save for dealer incentives on the 3 Series sedans and the Z4.
Sales of the BMW brand were down 10.0% this month when compared to April, 2004.
Total MB sales of 18,805 units for April were up a mere 2.3% when compared to the total of 18,384 sold in April, 2004. YTD 2005 sales for MB are down 7.3%.
MB sales would have been much lower save for introduction of the 2006 M Class this month. Sales of the M Class were up 60.2% when compared to last April.
Please note that I report only United States sales data.
