Has anyone notice obscure differences between the 545i and the 530i/525i. 545i's tailpipes are much larger and rounder! Anyone notice this?

Those of us that have xenons have bi-xenons. Meaning the highbeams/lowbeams are both xenons. This is not stated on BMW's website nor any literature materials. The lights next to the xenons are exclusively DRLs on my car as using the highbeams does not turn them on. Are these used as highbeams on non-xenon cars?

Yeah, the tailpipe difference has been discussed before. Also, the 545 grille has chrome slats and the others have black ones.

You are correct that the bi-xenons don't use the inner lens. Technically, the bi-xenons use the same lamp, there is just a shutter that flips in and out to focus the light low or allow the light to shine high. The inner lamps are for DRLs or for the "flash to pass" feature on bi-xenon cars...

Here in Denmark and the rest of Europe, where DRL are required by law, we use the xenon all time. So our xenon lights are always on. The high beam, is the inner light, and the xenon at the same time..

So you guys don't have bi-xenons in europe? That's important to know for anyone "upgrading" to euro-spec headlights!

Yes we do. BMW just doesn't call it Bi-Xenon on the option list, but it IS Bi-Xenon.

I'm confused! Just looked at my headlights and the highbeam light has a bulb that looks like a halogen type yet the low beam has a sealed sort of lamp. Are these both xenon? and is the bulb in the highbeam light just for flashing? The headlights at night both seem as powefull as each other!

I'm confused too now. Merv, are you looking at the lights that are inside the projector (outer) lights?

What? Is this true? We have DRLs in Canada and they are the inside lights and they are halogens. The outsides are the Bixenons for low beam and high beam and only come on when the lights are switched on - either automatically or otherwise. When the xenons are on, the halogens are off.

No the highbeam (inner) lights. Is it a conventional halogen bulb?
