Does it go to or come from the hood latch?

It comes out of the hood latch like the one you have pictured. What is it for you think?

it should be connected to the hood latch. When connected, that sensor will detect if the hood is not fully latched and you will get an error on the iDrive if you start driving without one of hood latches are locked.

Maybe it's the same latch used in another series? My hood latches don't have the wire. As far as I know the only hood switch is the one located by the right microfilter.

Hmm, yah that makes sense but I don't see any free socket for that plug to go into. Guess I'll just have to make sure to remember for the next service appt. Thanks!

The plug is for M5s or maybe even SMGs. This way, the car does not move if the hood is opened.

I was gonna guess eyebrows as well before I read your post saying they are working. Looks like you all narrowed it down to the fluxcapacitor (LOL btw) or some sort of hood latch plug to tell idrive when your hood is opened.
