Interested to hear if anyone has taken delivery of the new 525d with the 'de-tuned' 3.0 engine yet? Just wanting to hear first hand comments / experiences of what this engine is like to drive.

I have one on order (M Sport version) that should be here in the next 2 weeks!

I didn't know you could get the new 525d 3.0 engine in a pre LCI E60. Check out these 3 pre-facelift 2007 525d E60s with 3.0 engines.

Yes indeed..... the tuning potential is something I will be interested in, in the future! Anyone know if this is exactely the same engine as the 530d, just 'de-tuned' in the ECU or is there likely more to it than that i.e. different turbo, different exhaust etc?

Interesting.....as I too thought the 525d 3.0d was only on LCI's. These must be a few 'odd ones' that BMW used the new engine in but with otherwise the last of the pre-LCI spec?? Are these all definately pre-LCI's?

With a first registration of March 20 they could be among the first LCI's produced. The interior is pre-LCI though. I guess that BMW went with the 3 litre engine for the 525d a few weeks before the LCI. Or the specs are all wrong and taken from the current BMW web page. Looking at how good these guys are at taking photos this could actually be the case. The interior photos for the third car are all blury and looks like they were taken with a cell phone camera.

This question has been up on a Swedish Board, and the answer was that it's quite an extensive rebuilding to be made... The "525" has different turbo and other hardware changes. If life could e so simple that a software patch could fix it...

Thought it may have been too easy for a 'simple remap' to provide similar performance to that of the 530d. Still reckon there will be reasonable improvements to be made by having a remap though.

What other hardware differences are there, apart from the Turbo, between the new 525d & 530d then? Can you point me in the direction of the Swedish Board where this was discussed - I would be interested to read - cheers!
