Last year I left my '01 740 behind and downsized to my '07 530xi. I had been driving 7 series since my 94 740 ... kept each 4-5 years or until the cost of repair after warranty became unreasonable.

And since my research was indicating that the BMW V-8 cars were more problematic than the 6 cyl cars I downsized in that regard too.

I do miss the V-8! Rear seat passengers don't complain much but it is a tad smaller back in the cheap seats! Believe it or not, I'm averaging only 3-4 mpg more in the e60 than I did in my 7's but I attribute that to the all wheel drive drag.

If I were to do it again I'd probably go to a RWD BMW ... maybe another 7 ? ? Or, drop to an even smaller car like the 3 series 2 dr. And, since my first BMW was way back in 1986 (want to guess what model that was? ... hint, my user name is a clue) I may even toy with one of the oil burners we're finally able to buy on this side of the pond again. That is unless I get really goofy and buy that Porsche I've been kicking around. A lot depends on whether I've got an extra 100 large ones looking for a place to get spent next year.

OMG a 760. I doubt ull be able to replace it with anything. To me it is "THE" ultimate luxury, powerful, performance car that anyone can drive. Frankly, id even prefer it over the M5. I MEAN, C'MON V12 BABY. Its a shame u had to let it go.
The new 7er came out, why dont u get the 760 of THAT ONE

If I can go from an M5 to a 550i, certainly you can come "down" from a 760.

I would say the 550 ONLY because of warranty, else get a new m5, and let it go after warrantys done

If you still want a big car have you considered the 750li? I would goto the dealership, test drive buncha stuff, see how you feel... Also while at it test drive the Z4 coupe you would look absolutly adorable driving it.

I went from a 740 to the 535xi this year. Still have the 740. No regrets. The 5er is far more agile, quick and responsive - which is what I was looking for. Good luck.

Like I said before Sunny, if you want a 5, get the 535 and do the dinan tune! Tuned 535 will eat 550s all day long.

Dump the boat and get a 5. It's got the best of both worlds; plenty of room and handles nice and tight. Wow...that sounded kind of dirty. Hahahahaha!
