but paddles are too costly.too much money for changing gears which u can do already with the stick
Its just some fancy mod.
Its just some fancy mod.
It's a pretty non-functional mode, using the button on the wheel. Look at how the paddles are designed -- they're big, they are obvious by feel, they're on both sides. Seeking the +/- button while maneuvering the twists or really anywhere except on a straight away is silly, potentially distracting and could even be dangerous... If I had a car without the paddles (e.g., in the LCIs the SAT with paddles is only $500), I'd just use the gear selector (which is what you purists would have to do, anyway, if you had a manual!). The whole enthusiasm for this particular mod is just an infatuation and exhibition of some people's hack ability, not very relevant to make the Ultimate Driving Machine even more Ultimate. Silly. Stupid, really.

I did a small prototype of this idea on a collegues car and my idea works. The implementation was a bit clunky but it works - i could change the gears with the steering wheel buttons.

Yes it worked. It didn't take long at all but at the moment all CAN processing was being done on a laptop computer sitting on the passenger's seat. That's not a solution and that's the reason I called it a prototype.
