i plan on ordering blizzak tires but was wondering if anyone has tried their all seasons in the snow?
I had an e39 for years and drove with all seasons. While I did well for the most part - if I had to get up a hill from a stand-still in a few inches of snow....it was not unusual that I wouldn't make it.
Last week I had a similar problem with my 550 (which had high performance tires). I just put 17'' rims with blizzaks on today I know....my car is filthy...

How well do snow tires preform in snow when there is 25-50% tred life remaining? do they preform the same as when they were brand new?

I used to swap only the rears for snows on my e39, but have four dedicated snows for the e60.
Sometimes, it's more the tire compound than the tread pattern. Summer tires get hard as a rock near freezing.
Last winter, before I put the snows on, I was in 1" of fresh snow, and couldn't even charge up a mild incline without fear of sidewinding off into the ditch.
I love my Nokians. They are true snow tires made in the snowy part of the world! Check out my sig.
