Just wondered if any of you guys have ever launched your autos, I have never done it but to be honest i am not sure i will ever do it. Diesels are very torquey so it may do some serious damage to the box.

I've launched my 545i a couple times and it has 330lb-ft of torque. How much does the 525D have?

Damn not bad! I'd try it just a couple of times to see what its like. I have done a few light launches with my Dad's GL 320 CDI and it didn't feel too strong for the car to handle.

I thought the 525d shares the same 3 litre engine of the 530d and 535d except it's not turbocharged (or has lower boost).

Long gone are the days when you can know the engine size from the model number. Now it's more an indication of the performance level of the engine.

I've done it from 1,000rpm as seen on this video.

I have the 2004 engine which is a 2.5, the later engines were 3.0. I wish i had the 535D sometimes, that would be a hell of alot of fun.
