I was just curious if there are any members out there who are single and have a 5 series. I see a lot of posts where the 5 was chosen over a 3 due to needing more room for spouse, children, clients, etc.
I am alone in my car 90% of the time, mostly for just a 10 mile drive to work. The 3 series obviously has enough room for one person, and would likely handle better in the twisties... but there is just that special "something" about the 5 everytime I see one on the road (which is less frequent than a 3).
I know it is a matter of personal preference, and one needs to drive both... but I was just curious how many non-married types out there opted for the 5.

Hi,
Hum... I have wife & 3 kids so i need a big car.
But... 95% of time drive alone. So that is why i chose BMW 5 over MB E. It's the fun factor!
Well... i had a 3 series... but i always carry my whole kite gear (3 kites & 2 boards) in the truck for lunch breaks
that is why i went form 3 Touring to 5 Touring there simply was not enough space ![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/rolleyes.gif)
So many good excuses to get this great car!

there are quite alot of members on here who are single and chose the 5! the 3 is an excellent car but I would ever buy (an M3 being the exception of course) but the 5 evokes an emotion that I never feel from the 3 series.

Hi,
Just to add some data that i gathered the other day when i was asked the same question: "why a BMW 5 instead of a VW Golf?"
I made 230.000 km in 5 years. At the average 55km/h gives more than 170 days of 24h driving!
That is 1/2 year driving 24h a day in just 5 years!
Impressive numbers, no?
So, i deserve having it
