And all the lemons out there?!? What exactly is the problem here BMW???
Agree. My last car was pushing out 550hp and was a dual pump unit with lots of duty cycle on the pump to spare..even with the stock OEM single pump the car would still push 400hp to the tires..and it was all american made...

VAG had many issues with their version of the HPFP on the 2.0l turbo motor, but they consistently would last for 50-90k , you know what they did to solve the problems with it? A lot... like an almost totally new upper motor block.
BMW has had at least 2 different manufactures of the part ( Semmins/VDO, and Valeo), and Bosch builds the VAG ones that would last for 50-90k ( usually a Cam follower would go or a seal but at 50-90,000 miles not 6....).I still have yet to find out the actual reason they keep failing on the BMWs, At first I heard it was seals , now I'm hearing other wise.

So any one think BMW might want to dish the cash out to Bosch ?

New member to forum just today. Have 2009 535xi (US). iDrive gave fuel pump failure alarm, followed shortly by loss of power. Able to cycle car and it cleared up for a day and then it wouldn't run (long crank times, no power once it started). Dealership replaced HP fuel pump (1-13-51-7-613-933) amd ASA-BOLT (??). That was 10/29. Today is 11/9 and I just waved to the driver of the flatbed truck that took the car to the dealership a 2nd time with the same exact symptoms. What are the odds of a HP Fuel Pump failure in the space of 11 days? Is this mechanical or is it electronic or both?
