Any records for HPFP failure?

I am on my second HPFP for my 535 xi. In addition, I have had all fuel injectors and spark plugs replaced. First problem was around 19,000 miles in October of 2009 and the fuel injectors etc were replaced at 22,000 miles in March. The car now have 28,500 miles and no problems thus far. Apparently there is a new flash that has been ordered on all N54 powered vehicles. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=473559

I've had reprogramming and first HPFP replacement on my 2010 535i, I'm done with this. Dealer is doing a trade-assist and I was thinking of 2011 335is but I'm just not sure, don't want to deal with the same issues with the HPFP (http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=433273), then I feel forced to just go up the the M3. I will miss the fuel efficiency

going into a 335is makes no sense and you are virtually going into the same engine and possible hpfp symptoms still...


aside from the M3, what other models are you considering? How about an f10 528? Are there no 2010 e60's 550's left anywhere?

how about a diesel engine? the 335D is another possible option as well

335d is the vehicle I got as a loaner when my hpfp was being replaced, that car is freaking sweet man, the pick up and go is insane.

this one is discouraging for N54 owner.

I searched all BMW forums so the speak and found none of 933 pumps failure when incorporated with S/W update. The S/W was just priming the HPFP upon unlocking the car.

I just experienced my first HPFP failure and it's rather scarry when the car just stalled and limped, the good thing it happened in parking lot after dropping my son off.
Got '933' pump with new S/W, this is just crazy stupid of BMW (if the pump is the only one that fails). I am worried it's more than just the pump. If you have a failure part in front of your nose and have a will to fix it, it'll be done by now (4 years is just not acceptable when iPhone development takes 9 month from start to finish).

I just got a new -933 HPFP yesterday. I've only driven the car about 7 miles since then, so it's too soon to tell which way things will go. The pump was first replaced back in mid 2009, or about 7k miles ago. Fingers are crossed for this one

Compare to number of failures of HPFP from Late-2007 through Jan-2008 (which only fitted to 335 back then) these few failures in N55 (fitted to all x35 of BMW nowdays) is "acceptable".

I am on fuel pump #3. Technically BMW has recorded it as #2. The third time the car came in on a flatbed they told me it was the fuel injectors. FL law states 3 times same problem the car is a lemon. They know that and documented the problem as injectors but replaced the fuel pump. I had threatened them with contacting a lawyer when I had gone in. They know what they are doing... so here I am a year and a half later with no leg to stand on with the lemon law. Next time my HPFP goes, maybe they will say it is the ignition.

I will never own another BMW. BTW, just got my car back today from having the steering rack and pinion replaced, multiple burned out bulbs that keep burning out, and a broken power window motor, oh and non-working key fobs.

I had the software update yesterday. SA says not all cars are being recalled just the ones with the HPFP that are made in France. Not sure if it is true but sounded pretty interesting and thought I would share the info.
