My Ride: E61 523i, 2005, LPG
Default

I had e39 530i converted on lpg. I've sold it with 320.000km 5 years ago and I met the person who bought it from me couple of weeks ago and he still had it. 380.000km.

I got a e61 523i also on Lpg now, with 150.000km.

If you do regular maintenance you have no reason doubt in a Beemer. Satisfied so far.

Default 2 schools of thought

Seems there are 2 schools of thought here. Many commenters are bailing on their cars at 100k miles or a little more. Many others are keeping them until the wheels fall off. Is it possible that the traditional luxury car buyers are more inclined to dump their cars at 100k miles and the "Enthusuasts" are keeping them? Could it also be affected by who is doing the maintaining? At 140k miles, my 535i started throwing a catalytic converter issue code. Not sensor, actual converter. I took it to the dealer for something else (front end alignment) and asked them to look at it. They came back and said it needed injectors, a very expensive repair. Hmm. The car had new injectors installed under warranty at about 90k miles so I was pretty sure the dealer was wrong. I took the car home, changed the very dirty plugs and replaced the coils and, what do you know, haven't had the error since and the car now has 165,000 miles on it. Just replacing the plugs and coils would cost $1250.00 at the dealer. I did it for $250. This is why you should always know a little about your car.

I plan to keep all 3 of my current BMWs until the wheels fall off, and am looking for 2 more.

Bought my E61 this last weekend with 150k on it.

Honestly plan on keeping it for a pretty long time as newer options for wagons are nearly none in a respectable price range.

2005 545i mt/6 Just north of 130k now (old pic). No huge issues so far. changed upper/lower control arms and alternator bracket gasket. I plan on keeping this for a while. thinking of supercharging in the future...

I got an e60 525i with 220k miles on it. I got a few minor problems but I think that's just because of regular maintenance and tune ups it needs. Still rides good though.

Mine has 110k on it, bought it at 90k 1.5years ago. Changed the front end suspension, brake calipers and an eccentric shaft sensor. Other than that, just some fluids. No other issues and drives beautifully.

I just sold my 2006 E60 with 218,000 miles. The transfer case went bad. Until then it ran fine.
