Cool though... and something that even Iceman has difficulties to get. MP5 is not the easiest thing to get in Germany.

Our friends in US can maybe have MP5, but even they can not get MP3 to BMW.

Press the volume button, eject of cd drive and eject of dvd drive simultaniously.

Yeah. Even my dealer didn't knew about it.

I showed my salesman and he brought in the Service Advisor and their Electronics guy all claimed they did not know about it either.

Is there a Ctl-Alt-Del for a non-Nav car?

These are certainly no easter eggs and covered both in the manual and repeatedly in this forum.
But it?s my top three list of features most often overlooked/underused/unknown by other e60-drivers I?ve met and also BMW-staff.

1.
Press and hold the iDrive-knob in the direction of the function you want to go to get the last screendisplay you used. This is the way to go when finishing a phonecall fx to get back to your map/nav setup the quickest.

2.
Use your nav even on familiar roads if you?re in a country with good TMC and heavy traffic.
Set your route criteria to dynamic routing and you?ll sometimes save a lot of congested time.
I?ve been on many rides in other peoples nav-equipped cars where they only use nav on those holiday trips in new territory.
A favourite setup is to have TMC-info on the left splitscreen and map in the small right screen.
If you?re ordering your e60 and option for nav get HUD also- it?s far beyond a gimmick.

3.
To get your opposite/FAR rear mirror to turn down when reversing you have to set your knob for rear mirror control to the NEAR mirror ( I know some don?t like this but then just put the knob the other way again)

I just remembered two other subtle things I think is nice

1. Mapping one of the wheelbuttons to Change of entertainment source is a obvious choice to me AND the other is nice to use for phone list to go to phone rather than the left phone that I?ve only been able to use for answering/ending a call or repeat last call.

2. The right +/- knob on the wheel is for most known as an entertainment station/track incremental but also work on other lists in iDrive (phonenumbers and destinations) and is much safer than rotating the knob while driving. To actually have a cross (also right/left) there on the wheel would actually be a nice addition on MY06.

That's a gun in that armrest. You can release the armrest by pushing a button in the front, from the drivers or passengers seat, and the armrest opens up, th gun slides out towards the driver and passenegr seat, so that you can easily grab it.
For government only.?

I heard a rumor that the gun will be available as part of the Individual program (sorry no US availability) starting MY07, which, if things continue as is, should be available staring Dec 05.

No US availability becasue we can buy our own on any corner. I will be posting pics of my cusomt install in the DIY section in the coming days.
