Any Damage driving with "DS" Mode on streptonic?

Automatic tranny does fail at some point and it will be expensive to fix w/o warranty. I would at least change the oil, AT fulid, differential and coolant
more frequently/earlier than scheduled.

Have fun yet don't abuse it. I'm sure everyone knows driving aggressively/fun vs plain abuse the car.
+1, there is a big difference between abuse and "spirited" driving. I would consider abuse dumping the clutch or , for auto trannies, stepping on the brake and flooring it, or redlining your car before it has reached optimal operation temperature. I doubt that a feature so readlily accesible as a flick of the wrist would cause any more noticeble "damage", considering you do preventative maintenance in accordance to your driving. I beat my car pretty hard and the more it got kicked the better it drove and the smoother the engine was. These engines where built for high revvs and are designed with precision for high speeds. Unlike Japanese cars which have more slack in their tolerances since they are built for stop and go traffic. BMW engines are NOT desinged for stop and go and low revvs will cause carbon build-up. At least once a week, you should really kick your engine since the high revvs will shoot out carbon deposits.

I agree. I had some reliability issues on my 550, sure, but generally speaking these cars are very well-engineered and they're designed and built to be driven hard. The car is more than capable of taking some punishment from time to time.

Nothing wrong at all with taking the car out and giving her an occasional "Italian tune up" - in fact it's probably something we should indeed view as preventative maintenance.

I've been to the track twice with the 550i. It always seems to run better after exercising it for the weekend. VIR allows foot to the floor 2nd gear 40mph to 5th gear 135mph runs over and over. The 550i lives for that. Even at the Tail of the Dragon, I've run it hard in 2nd & 3rd gears 4000-6000 RPMs with 50+ shifts in a 15 minute run and it just takes that in stride.

I can't agree with most of the freaks here:
If you often drive with the DS, your trans will often change on higher rpms (up and down) - so the trans (specially the brakebands in it) will be used a lot more...
...for a ride it will be ok, but I would not do this all the time...
...btw, if you drive all the time with DS you won't get the effect when changing from D to DS

One trick I can Teach you that a fellow friend taught me is. In Manual Mode(When you have M1,M2,M3,etc.. on ur dashboard). If you keep the stick shift towards the + or - , It will remain in the same gear even if you reach the Rev Limit, It will not change. That is good whenever you have turns and you do not want to upshift
