any cars have a block heater?
#1
So forgot to ask the other day-in a 528 I had with heated seats I left the car a couple times overnight as usual and it is in the 50s or so. And each morning the tachyometer did not have a bunch of bars indicating the engine is cold and rather had its usual 3 little bars near 7k rpms. This never changed once. I was wondering if some cars had an option for some kind of heater that kicked in-I assumed you would have to plug one in but maybe times have changed.
Or is this just a broken feature of that car

For some reason, the LCI cars don't have the moving white bars...
I wish I had known that-I was having so much fun with my loaner and its smoooth shifts-the lci has a new tranny right? the step shifts so much quicker and moother than my current car-anyway I definetly pushed it a bit assuming the engine was up speed and heat

This is a shame, my current have it (red lining) but the soon coming next one don't
What about the cruise control marker (yellow lining)?

It's even cooler with the LCI since it changes between green and orange dependin on the speed is set or just memorised.

Damn! I hope you've made more than 10000kms with your car, else it must be some kind of record...

By the way anyone notice on the LCI that the fuel milage guage is reversed so that 0 is on the left and the highest number on the right-so silly I mean was it worth the extra 3 dollars per car or whatever it was to probably change that part and the production of that part-funny what they do to an LCI to try to differentiate it-I mean how pointless. The guage moving left to right was as good as right to left for me! A useless guage in my opinion anyway but still

Its not that but I do like that you can use that to tell you when the engine IS warm enough to get on the gas a bit more. I often jump out of my garage onto the freeway in about 2 minutes and it is nice to know when to and not to get on the gas and have some fun which I often like doing. Agreed any common sense can tell you to give it 10 minutes or so of driving before getting on it if it is cold out but its a nice reassuring feature to let you know that yes-it IS ok to do it
The oil temp is the best gauge to let you know when to have fun. This is about 10 mins on the V8 to get to 100deg C.
