Thanks Kaz, i used the glued screw method as i didnt want to wait for the plates!!! im going to remove it again later on as i want to clean the whole manifold properly, pretty simple job if your handy with spanners though

Indeed, it could have been disasterous!!!! looking at the loose one, it was the rivot that holds them on the post that was worn! a bad design IMO!

Yes, you were lucky.
Here we have another case with the "updated" intake manifold. They can brake too.

It may be the weather, but since I did my flaps, I am consistently getting around 10% better fuel consumption.

I'm not complaining!!!

Ditto...I get 48-50 mpg from my 525d since flaps out

...that's 520d figures!

have not done enough miles in mine since flap removal to check mpg but hope it will improve
also changed air filter,crank vent,egr therm,cleaned maff and egr so fingers crossed

I hope i get them figures a few more MPG's always goes down well, mind im a bit lead footed so i prob wont see any difference
